We, Dan and Barbara, have been taking care of and loving dogs for many years. We have brought to our home and trained over a hundred rescue dogs over the years. Our dogs are our children and we wanted to build a facility where we would feel comfortable leaving our own dogs should the need ever arise.
We currently have two Australian Shepherds of our own. Below in order are our beloved Dancer (we lost her Dec. 31, 2011) , Pippi Longstockings (Pip)and Laurelhills Scooby Doo (Scooby).
We have traveled extensively over the years in our motor home with our dogs and have on occasion had to find a place to day care our dogs on our trips. We were very careful to research the places we placed them and have found many wonderful facilities over the years. The best were always family owned and run, small and very clean with lots of activities for the dogs. We have taken the best ideas we found that made our dogs happy to stay there.
So began the dream and idea of Shady Rest Paws Resort. Our new building provides the resort of our dreams for your dog. Dan and I want to make sure when you go out of town on vacation or business, you can feel comfortable knowing your dogs are at our resort. He or she will be loved, get plenty of exercise and stay in a clean, spacious heated/AC room with a comfy bed, good food, treats and lots of fresh water. We provide bedding or you can bring your own freshly laundered bed from home to make your dog more comfortable. We feed quality grain free food, Taste of the Wild and provide organic home madel treats for your dogs enjoyment. You can also feel free to bring food or treats of your choice! Medications or supplements can also be given if required or requested.
All of our guests are taken out starting at 7am every morning and at least every two hours after that. Our last time out in the yard is around 9:30pm every night.
We also provide a wooded 4 acre off leash fenced area for any of our guests to use if desired. We take them out to run and play in this area at least twice a day, depending on the weather. Cooler weather allows more visits to play should the family wish it and your dog like the activity. You can be assured that the dogs are supervised in this area and all of our play areas at all times.
